Summer is a great time for delicious fruits and vegetables, not only for us but for our dogs as well. Below is a list of safe and unsafe edible delights for Fido.

Fruits safe for pet’s consumption:

Apple
Banana
Berries – blueberries, strawberries, raspberries
Mango
Melons – cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon
Oranges
Pear
Pineapple

Not safe: Grapes and raisin! These are toxic to your cats and dogs, and can cause kidney damage in them. Best to avoid citrus fruits like lemon, lime, grapefruit and persimmon too as these fruits can cause upset stomach.

Vegetables safe for pet’s consumption:

Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots
Cauliflower
Celery
Cucumber
Green Beans
Lettuce
Pumpkin
Spinach

Not safe: Onions and garlic! These are toxic in all forms – cooked, raw, and powdered. It can cause damage to your pet’s red blood cells which may eventually burst and lead to life-threatening issues. Also to avoid wild mushrooms and corn.
